I'm going to try to switch to those medications soon and see what happens. I am not avoiding mirrors and I am using less makeup.

I was sure my breakouts were hormonal and I thought spironolactone could help me.

It's basically like getting a super dose of greens every day that can clear up your hormonal acne, and can even lessen PMS symptoms. I went off the spiro and got the topical you mentioned.

!Well the good thing is you didn't take it long! Someone needs to do more research on this.Mindii, they all deny it, but the proof is there. Go figure.. I am very stressed and depressed .

Ive been on spironolactone for about 4 months now. I didn't even think about it causing my hair to get dry but it makes sense as it decreases sebum in the skin.

When I went back on the same pill my skin went to hell.I went to the dermatologist at the end of April because I realized I was not readjusting and things would not clear up without some further intervention. Some days I feel more positive about it like things are getting better and then I’ll have another shedding phase. My skin is perfectly clear just 3 months ago I had at least 5 small pimples and always one or two big cystic ones. SCA did help to switch some things up though, which I'm really thankful for because it has helped my scarring greatly.

No problems with periods or mood swings etc.

TIL it can be used for acne....but we routinely use it in lieu of Lasix because it does not mess with the potassium.

Looks amazing!!!!!!! So I started taking the Spiro in January of 2015 at 50 mg. within 4 weeks I felt like I could see a huge difference in my skin. I think at this point I have lost a 3rd of it. Boobs still tender, have gained a few pounds but have also eaten a lot of cakes. She immediately told me that that was caused by the 25mg daily Spironolactone dosage I take.

I was perfectly fine untill i started those pills so as of today Aug 13,2016 im going to stop taking it and see if my hair stops falling out. I’m only taking25 mg.

Other than that I've not had any serious side affects. Will it go away itself or I need to do something about it to get ride of it? Retin-A worked up until I hit 26, at which point it seemed suddenly ineffective. It's been a continuous process. Now I have noticed that I have 'layers' from the hair breaking off at different points as well as thinning. I've also heard veiled references to "life" and "your age" (50-ish). Is this something normal to push through- or am I having a bad reaction.

I can't even remember the last time my skin has felt so smooth. How much extra sensitivity to the sun is there, really?

Am due the results of my first set of bloods next week so I will update again then. I would give 5 stars, but I have just entered the "clearing" phase, so I want to make sure this continues and I will update later.

How is it going now?

I use topical steroids once or twice a week. Went to remove stitches and for review today.

No emotional changes. Have just updated post week 8.

Spironolactone initial breakout Reddit extra super avana

I think I used proactive again too. I'm really contemplating on getting off of itMostly though it seems like it is reversible by discontinuing the spiro but it takes time and unfortunately not everyone regaines what they originally had. I have been losing hair for 3 mos since stopping, but I took it a long time before making the connection :/. I had heard a lot of good things about spiro, and I even have a good friend who has benefited from taking it.The first two weeks were great. I’m going to ask my endocrinologist to switch me either to Bicalutamide, or to Dutasteride (Avodart). Fast forward again.... 4th pregnancy was completely normal, and my 4th baby boy (born Nov. 2015) was 100% healthy and whole.

Skin looks good. I really hope you recover soon. Can you tell me which part of your hair is affected? I am starting 75mg tomorrow and will let you know how i progress. But today i went to pick up another medication and they gave me the refill of spironolactone i asked my pharmacist if losing hair could be a side effect of taking spironolactone and he said absoutly!!

I saw improvement within a month, and more by November.

Just don't binge eat potatoes or bananas. If you are in the US, Spiro is on the $4 generic list at walmart iirc. I even went to my dermatologist about my hair loss and she didn't say anything about the possibility of it being the Spiro.

It's remarkable how much that was a culprit for me.I am experiencing hair loss at the moment from spiro. This is so scary.

Then this past summer I was getting it every 2 weeks!

I am 27 years old and started getting pretty bad hormonal acne two years ago on my jawline, neck, chest, and back. Although spiro is meant for hair growth, I have a feeling it does cause hair loss too.

Certainly not "clear" yet but seems to be making a difference, skin definitely less oily and its good not to be on antibiotics having been on them for years. I do still notice a breakout or two around the time of my menstrual cycle but I usually just treat with a salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide spot treatment. I also take thyroid medication but have never in 19 years experienced hair loss.

I'm going to try to switch to those medications soon and see what happens. I am not avoiding mirrors and I am using less makeup.
