OMG I am not looking forward to that after reading all the comments made. My oncologist explained that there is a possible, RARE side effect soon after the Taxol is injected into your body that can cause you to go into shock. Taxol put me into CHEMOpause at 36 years old. The day after treatment, I couldn’t sit still. Those were grueling on my body and made me feel anything but normal.
I have a full head of salt & pepper "chemo curls." I ache and I’m so sore, basically from head to toe. I think it is “rare” for someone like me to get breast cancer; yet I have it! So, I started using this day as my house cleaning day!Although I completely welcomed the extra energy, the insomnia that came with it got old fast.
I’ve got 4 infusions to go & lost a cohort to death of all over body cancer, & now just not the brave strong courageous positive person I was for the first 16 weeks worth. I couldn't face Hubby, Son, or GDaughter if 'something' comes back and I hadn't done everything I could - but that's just me.I only had taxol (and herceptin) ... and whatever side effects I had they were TOTALLY "doable."
I was in the chemo chair at 10:15am and didn't get up until 4:15pm (sigh). Did yours stop as well?
Did the pack of ice really last for the whole treatment? What a great Christmas present finishing chemo will be…Congrats to you!!!! I managed to keep my eyebrows and lashes until my last chemo treatment. I have cried more in the last two days than I have since my diagnosis two months ago. I hope that someday this will all be a distant memory.
We immediately tested my blood sugar and it was very low: 53, so we took counter measures. *As always, please remember that I am in no way a doctor of any sort. I am not convinced. Overall thoughts on Taxol. Wasn’t going to complain.
It has definitely been an adjustment. I have 3 more double treatments for Triple Neg. I'll be getting taxol/herceptin once a week, while I had ac every 3 weeks. I am still working on an amended work schedule and tried to push myself on my recovery eeek and finally realized I just don’t have the energy to do it right now.I had my first treatment of taxol yesterday 4/20 and right now I just feel tired but no nausea. We are all survivors!!
Hopefully you'll sail through all treatments with no issues but the bald thing, which is a given.Good luck and remember, it'll all one day be a distant memory.I had 4 rounds every 2 weeks of AC and 12 weekly of taxol. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice. I always have water on hand – I don’t leave home without it. After the first chemotherapy treatment was so tough with the chest infection almost killing me (not much of an exaggeration), I was really hopeful that this time, without the infection, I would cope with the chemotherapy treatment side effects much better.
Be able to work or function. Now I keep them in my first aid kit at home so I can get additional use out of them!Although I had a lot of side effects during my twelve weeks of Taxol, it really was a MUCH EASIER treatment than Adriamycin/Cytoxan.
I still have a lot of pain in my legs, but sometimes in my hips, and then my neck. We value your privacy. The cancer did not have the receptors so I was not able to take the hormones. I was just diagnosed at age 42 with triple negative breast cancer and have a 2 and 3 year old at home.
They also prescribed the mouth wash (horrible aftertaste) and carafate that increases the saliva production (be ready for stomach lurching) My tongue feels all cut up and I have mouth sores that get better little by little. I hope Taxol flies by for you and that you get to ring the bell soon! I did feel like I had the flu ALL the time but when I starte on the taxol I didn’t think I would make it. And they were easier to tolerate than the other things I tried.
I initially used bags of frozen peas, but the peas ended up thawing toward the end of each treatment and smelled terrible!So, another woman who sat in the chemo chair next to me suggested that I buy This worked so much better because I could shove them in my purse until I needed them. These side effects can usually be managed and those described here will not affect everyone.
I’ve had my third A/C (one more to go) followed by Taxol for 12 weekly infusions. We are all survivors!!
I will be starting the ACT treatment on 3/7. I even stopped napping altogether so that I could sleep better that first night. And yes food tastes bland :( more so after the 4th round. As with any form of chemotherapy, Taxol can take a toll on your energy.
It’s tough but we are getting through it. NOTE: My Taxol drip was extended to an hour & a half, rather than the typical hour drip. For some reason the nurses had to push the Benadryl into my IV rather than letting it drip from an IV bag. So the whole way down to infusion, I gave myself a pep talk about this rare possible side effect and tried to convince myself that it probably never happens to anyone.

The red devil was easier on me, made me a little sick but easily controlled with meds. People were going to be amazed by my resolve and inspiration to others. I’m glad they switched you to pill form. These really concerned me at first, but I eventually just started to accept and ignore the pains. The pathology showed the mass had shrunk considerably with no cancer and very little cancer in the node.
