  • A TITLE RACE TO REMEMBER!

    Football England

This has been one of the strangest starts to a Premier League  season in a long time. Top teams are dropping points very early on  and nobody is sure why. Regardless of any reason the fact of the matter is the gap in quality from the bottom to the top has been narrowed.

Who do I think can win it?

This Season is wide open anyone can win it and I mean anyone however rather than speak about all the teams, I have pinpointed 3 teams who I believe are most likely to win the Premier League this season.

    Liverpool

The Red side of Merseyside have taken more points than anyone since the 18/19 season and won the title last year with their closest competitors in Manchester City finishing 18 points behind them. This to me would have made them clear favourites. Especially with the signings they made in Thiago, Jota
    and Tsimikas.

However after a horror tackle by Jordan Pickford on Virgil Van Dijk, the reds will need to find a solution to fill his role. As even before his injury, centre back was the area they had the least squad depth in. Fabinho seems to be quite able to partner up with Gomez or Matip. So as long as the squad doesn’t suffer any more injuries to important players they are my favourites to win the League this year.

    Manchester City

The sky blues may not be the team they were two years ago however they are still not to be underestimated. Although I don’t think they had a very good summer transfer window to be honest. Even with injuries to the likes of De Bruyne, Gabi Jesus and Laporte, they are still an attacking threat and Pep Guardiola is still a great manager.

The reason they are less likely to win the Prem than Liverpool in my opinion is they have failed to replace big personalities like Vincent Kompany. It is clear that since his departure the team has not been the same. To me they’ll challenge Liverpool and maybe win it themselves, it really wouldn’t surprise me.

    Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho. The most controversial man in football, some people love him, others hate him. Some people think he’s finished as a manager, others think he’s still a winner. My opinion, he’s in my top 5 managers in the world and with the squad he has, if he can keep them happy and get a run of consistency he could lead Tottenham to their first ever Premier League title and 1st trophy in a
    decade.

They have bought good players over the summer and filled some major gaps in their squad. Daniel Levy seems to have an ace up his sleeve with negotiations to sign Skriniar on an initial loan with an obligation to buy in January reaching advanced stages. If they can get their man (and let’s not forget the return of Gareth Bale) Spurs will most likely win a trophy this season and maybe even the Premier League title.

    Honourable Mentions

Like I said this year I think anyone can win it. I contemplated choosing one of United or Chelsea instead but I feel like the managerial talent in Mourinho overshadows both Ole and Lampard. Not to mention United are too inconsistent to mount a title challenge this season and Chelsea need time to gel after bringing in so many players and by the time they do I think the title will be out of reach this year.

Everton have also looked like a really good side and while I do think they’re a much better team this season and the dark horse for Top 4, a title is unlikely considering last season they Finished 50 points behind Liverpool. 50 ! Even if Liverpool do regress this season I can’t see them closing that gap in 1 summer transfer window.

These are all my opinions, so I’d like to know, who are your favourites for the 20/21 Season ?
