  • SOME CLARITY ON THE GUNS ISSUE

I WISH TO MAKE IT VERY CLEAR THAT THIS IS IN NO WAY AN APOLOGY OR ANY TYPE OF RETRACTION. I FULLY STAND BY EVERYTHING I WROTE AND ALWAYS WILL. I AM WRITING THIS MORE AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU THE READER TO GET TO KNOW ME, THE MAN.

When I wrote the piece earlier in the week, triggered by events Sunday in Las Vegas, I knew it was time to release some thoughts that had been brewing inside of me for a long time. It was an opinion, regarding the guns industry in America that I had strongly formed over many many years. And it was not something that I took lightly at all. I thought carefully when transferring thought to words and stand by everything that I wrote. However it seems that some people may have either not understood or chose to see things in the article in a particular way. I therefore would like to provide some clarity regarding what the article actually meant for me.

Firstly my use of strong language. When I started this blog, I promised myself one thing. I promised that I would give anyone who reads my words a true sense of who I am. As if you were sitting with me in a bar and we were discussing a topic. The real me. That means strong language is included. It does not mean that I am using said words to make myself sound like the absolute authority. It is just the way I am, genuine to a fault.

Now to the meat on the bones. The topic of the article itself.

At no point have I ever had a problem with Americans or America itself. I know a lot of American people whom I truly love and admire. I also do not think they are all “ignoramuses”. Nor do I think anyone who wishes to own guns is an “ignoramus” either. The entire point of the article was to focus on the currently underwhelming guns legislation in force in the United States. The second amendment which has been in play since 1791 should no longer be relevant in their modern day society. Of this I am 100% certain. In my opinion anyone who puts their right to be able to purchase automatic weapons above the potential to save lives is both selfish and ignorant. Thus my terminology was aimed at such people.

In the article I also took aim at the political side of things. Those who know me well will tell you I am not a big fan of politics. Not individual politicians per se, but it is the overall system that rubs me up the wrong way.  I believe that politics in a democratic society should be “only” for the people, unfortunately this is seldom the case. So I had no problem taking the “political” system to task over its failure to both stand up to industry regarding gun control and its responsibility to keep society safe.

For the record, I will forever be militantly in favor of anything that will help make society a better or safer place.

GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE?
